Great Barrier Reef Foundation Managing Director Anna Marsden

The Great Barrier Reef is Australia’s global icon and one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

Today, the Outlook Report confirms what we already knew – the years ahead are critical to the future of the Reef.

The report is clear. The Reef faces serious challenges from a changing climate, with poorer water quality and rising water temperatures as well as increased natural disasters and Crown-of-thorns outbreaks.

That’s why with the support of thousands of Australians, we are focused on the future of the Reef.

Every day we’re making progress. In addition to gaining a greater understanding of the Reef with 3D mapping and coral DNA sequencing, we’re rebuilding reefs with coral IVF, and pioneering new science with Reef RangerBots and sunshield technology. We’re also saving our precious marine life by restoring reef islands and protecting the world’s largest green turtle nesting area.

The Great Barrier Reef Foundation – the lead charity for the Reef – is focused on protecting the Reef and rebuilding it for future generations.

That is why we are embarking on Australia’s largest environmental fundraising campaign to bring together the best minds and technologies to help save the Reef.
